What is interactive theater?

Interactive theater is an exciting emerging category of art. It usually heavily encourages audiences to participate and adapts to what many different guests will enjoy. This allows guests to fully engage in story and interaction mechanics, or simply to be observers, and all levels in between. Think of it like a ‘choose-your-own’ type of story that shifts between scripted elements and unscripted elements. Often, there are mysteries or challenges that need to be solved with the guests help; either puzzles or role-played interactions. 

Types of Events

  • Variety Shows

    These events combine interactive performances with stage performance arts like comedy, dance, circus arts, and live music. Guests interact with characters and learn about their needs and foibles as the evening progresses. The finale reveals different outcomes based on the guest’s choices.

  • Pub Crawls

    Teams walk from location to location in a local area, meeting a variety of eclectic characters who they can choose to help or hinder in order to achieve their aims. Guests perform tasks and solve puzzles along the way to earn trust and solve mysteries. If they impress, they may earn entry into secret societies…

  • Masquerade Galas

    Masquerade Galas

    These events are fancy dress-up events where audience members are treated to food and drink, roving performance arts, dance instruction, a charity auction, and of course mysteries and puzzles to solve by talking to interactive characters. These events typically take place at site-specific locations like historical homes and museums.

  • LARPs

    Short for “Live Action Roleplaying”, these events vary in format, but instead of having cast-members to interact with, the audience participants are all playing as characters in the scenario.
